Finished Project!

At my Guild's retreats, whenever someone finishes a quilt top or table runner, an enthusiastic friend always yells out "Finished Project" on their behalf.  There is nothing as exciting as those words and having a large group of eyes all directed to the person's beautiful work as they are 'encouraged' to have a spontaneous show and share.  Sometimes the quilter is shy.  That is why the 'enthusiastic friend' is so important.  I am a great starter but I am not know to finish.  And rarely at retreats. The current pandemic has changed things for me in many ways but I am working on putting a dent in my UFOs.  And I am lucky to be encouraged by my quilting friends and guild virtually.  Messenger and Zoom calls are the new retreats!

One of the projects I completed this week is this cute cuddle quilt made of Shangri La charm squares by Moda.  I believe it is 3 Sisters fabric but |I have to admit this project falls into the bucket of 10+ years old.  It is supposed to have a scalloped border but the fabric for that may have been used on another project in error (oops!) so I decided to leave it simple.  Simple but complete!

I have a friend whose mantra is "Be kind to yourself".  In 2020, I have decided to take that advice on in the form of taking time to do the things you love and that make you happy.  And celebrate the wins! For me that is quilting virtually with friends and being proud of each completed quilt that I can gift as a hug during these unusual times.

Happy Quilting!
